This was disclosed by the president of The Rotary Club of Barbados, Peter Williams, during a small donation ceremony at First Citizens Bank, Wildey, St Michael, recently.
Williams explained that COVID Essentials was set up with the Rotary Club and other civic-minded individuals to support those who had lost their jobs during the pandemic
The president said they had distributed about $60 000 every week over the last three months
“We’ve reached out through the Salvation Army, which is distributing all the goods which are being packed into hampers to those in need. The reason we chose the Salvation Army is because they have an excellent reputation and already know those who to reach out to and how to distribute food in the community,” he said. (RA)
