“We are making every effort to ensure that not only Oquassa but other players as well do make the necessary steps and are advancing their game,” Bernard said “Oquassa is the one that is first through the gate but we are very hopeful that others who will be given the opportunity will now express themselves in a similar manner in the forthcoming games.”

Meanwhile, after being idle last weekend, Molynes United will return to action against defending champions Portmore United in the first game of the double-header at 1 p.m. Molynes are on a point from their only game while Portmore have three points from two games.

Mount Pleasant’s head coach Paul ‘Tegat’ Davis has issued a challenge to his team to increase their scoring output against Harbour View in their Jamaica Premier League fixture today at 3:30 p.m. at the Stadium East field.

Both teams enter their game unbeaten after two matches, although Harbour View are yet to register a win in two games. Mount Pleasant defeated Humble Lion 1-0 last week for their first three points of the campaign but Davis says that they need to capitalise consistently on their chances given that goal difference could decide play-off positions in this truncated season.

“Scoring goals will be the emphasis tomorrow (today) as we are among five teams with four points,” Davis told The Gleaner while suggesting that positions this season could well be decided by goal difference.

Mount Pleasant have only scored one goal and they are facing a team that has given them problems in the past. The St Ann-based club have not won in their last three clashes with Harbour View and it is a statistic that Davis hopes that his team will be able to improve.

“This Harbour View team is a good one. They always play well against us but tomorrow we will try to make it difficult for them,” Davis said yesterday.

Harbour View’s head coach, Ludlow Bernard, says that he is looking forward to seeing other young players take their opportunities. Former Jamaica College player Oquassa Chong has done this early in the season and is now leading the league with two goals from two games.
